The Avengers Beat Battleship and The Dictator With $55.1million

At the box office, it was once again all about 'The Avengers' as three new releases failed to even appraoch the Marvel's superhero blockbuster's third-weekend gross of $55.1million according to studio estimates.

It will be recalled that so many movie critics and reviewers has down rated 'Battleship' and as what some would term 'sinking before arrival'expressing their huge disappointment in the movie.
Battleship ranked 2nd in Box Office with only $25.3million on arrival to which it was rated on review as the worst domestic opening ever for a movie with a reported budget of at least $200million (Universal spent $209million on the PG-13 picture.

Ranking 3rd is 'The Dictator' with $17.4million for a five-day of $24.5million (because the movie opened on Wednesday).

Meanwhile, The Avengers will have made an estimated $457.1million domestically passing $450million in a record of 17days. It should be recalled that the previous record holder, "The Dark Knight" attained that milestone in 27 days.

The Avengers however passed "Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" to become Disney's biggest movie both ever domestically and worldwide. It now sits in fourth place on the all-time worldwide chart behind only "Avatar," "Titanic," and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part II".
