Following the attacks, 28 people were arrested and a military trial ensued where in 3 people were acquitted and 3 others were postponed. 5 who were minor were sentenced to life imprionment while the remaining 17 were sentenced to death by firing squad.
The attackers however alleged that the miltary built on the land which had belonged to them for ages. This land which is situate in Eastern Hargeisa hs formed the hub of the Tuesday clash where aside the recorded deaths to a number of 7 including a pregnant mother, left scores injured.
This was the single bloodiest day in Hargeisa since the 2008 coordinated car-bombings that left more than twenty people dead.
